Internet Users Worldwide
Today (2016), there are
currently 3,090,000,000 Internet
users and 40 per cent of the
world's population has reliable
access to the Internet. By 2020,
the total number of Internet
users is predicted to rise to
over 5 billion.
This is because the number of
users in the developing world
is already beginning to rocket.
Currently, Africa, for example,
represents 3 per cent of
Internet usage, and South
America, 8 percent.
Mobile phone networks,
however, are already becoming
increasingly common even in
the poorest of countries and,
thanks to smartphone
technology, the remotest of
regions are now becoming
Internet accessible.
